The Place du Grand Sablon in Brussels is nothing like West 47th Street in Manhattan, although you can pick up a nice little brooch in either locale. The square and its surrounding streets are dominated by smart town houses occupied by dealers of sumptuous period furniture, chocolate, rare books and all manner of art, including one that’s rarely mentioned in the same breath as sculpture and painting but is every bit as rarefied: costume jewelry made for the haute couture.
